Yes, both olives arrive in a weighted black plastic pot, ready to place as is or drop into a decorative planter. Choose a planter 1" to 2" wider than the supplied pot and finish the top with moss or stones to hide the base. See pots and planters for options.
The olives here carry the slender, silvery-green leaf, visible branch structure and dark fruit clusters that make a live olive recognizable. At conversation distance they pass as real, which is the usual test for a floor tree. The natural-look trunk adds to the effect.
Live olive trees need full sun and good airflow, and indoors they drop leaves quickly in low light. A faux olive keeps its shape in a dark corner or an air-conditioned office with no watering, pruning or leaf litter. It also stays the same size, so the space around it never needs rethinking.
Dust the leaves with a soft cloth or a hairdryer on the cool setting every few weeks. The UV resistant outdoor olive can be rinsed with a hose and left to dry. Avoid solvent-based cleaners, which can damage the leaf finish.
