The right artificial tree height is roughly two thirds to three quarters of your ceiling height for a statement piece, with at least 12 inches of clear air above the canopy. For a standard 8 ft ceiling that means a tree in the 59" to 71" range; anything taller starts to crowd the room. Here is the full size logic by room, using the actual heights in our range.
Desks, shelves and consoles: 24" to 28"
Small potted pieces read best at eye level or below. Our fern palm (23.6"), small bird of paradise (27.6") and handmade bonsai (27.6") sit in this band. One rule: on a surface, the pot matters as much as the plant, so match pot finish to the furniture.
Floor accent in a corner: 35" to 47"
Mid-height trees fill a corner without dominating it. This is the widest band in the range: areca palms at 35.4" and 47.2", monstera at 39.4", banana and bird of paradise at 47.2", plus the olive (45.3") and cypress pine (47.2") for a Mediterranean look. In a corner, choose a tree with an asymmetric canopy; perfectly round shapes look artificial fastest.
Statement piece, standard 8 ft ceiling: 59" to 71"
This is where the two-thirds rule lands. Fiddle leaf fig and lemon at 63", monstera and bougainvillea at 59.1", black bamboo and natural-trunk bamboo at 59.1" and 70.9", areca at 70.9". Several ship as knock-down designs, meaning the trunk splits for shipping and assembles in minutes, which is how a 6 ft tree arrives in a normal courier box.
Double-height spaces and voids: 82"+
Stairwells, lofts and commercial lobbies swallow standard trees. The 82.7" bird of paradise and the 106.3" (8.8 ft) eucalyptus are built for these volumes. For hotels, resorts and large commercial fit-outs, our monumental palms run 13 ft to 39 ft on a 10 to 12 week made-to-order lead time.
Indoors vs outdoors
Most artificial trees are interior products. If the spot gets direct sun through glass or sits outside, choose from the UV-resistant models (buxus, cypress pine, olive 47.2", fiddle leaf, snake plant, agave) so color holds.
